I enjoy a variety of hobbies that keep my life vibrant and fulfilling. In North Carolina, I take advantage of the beautiful mountain trails to indulge my love of hiking, relishing their stunning views and tranquility. The rest of the year, I embrace the island lifestyle in St. John in the USVI, where I immerse myself in the colorful underwater world through snorkeling and underwater photography. Capturing the beauty of the Caribbean Sea is both thrilling and rewarding.
When I'm not exploring nature, you'll likely find me absorbed in a good book, enjoying some quiet time with my two amazing kitties, Desi and Boo, whose company always brings me joy.
Why I Mentor:
Mentoring is an extension of my lifelong commitment to healing and personal growth, both for myself and those I have the privilege to guide. As a mentor, my nearly 20 years in the mental health field have taught me the transformative power of connection, understanding, and empathy. Through running a multi-state treatment program, I have seen firsthand the profound influence of mentorship in addressing trauma, eating disorders, and substance use.
My academic journey, grounded in a PhD and broadened by certifications in integrative and functional nutrition, biofeedback, and wellness coaching, has equipped me with a diverse set of tools to support others. Mentoring allows me to share these tools, helping others to navigate their own healing and growth journeys. With certifications from the Center for Mind Body Medicine, I lead Mind Body Medicine Skills Groups for trauma healing globally, which underscores the importance of holistic healing—a principle I bring into my mentoring relationships.
My dual degrees in Business Management and Sociology have informed my role as the owner and Executive Director of a multi-state treatment center. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I learned the value of leadership and innovation, values I strive to impart to those I mentor. Additionally, as a Registered Yoga Teacher and certified fitness instructor, I incorporate the philosophy that "The Body Keeps the Score" ensuring that movement and mindfulness are integral parts of the journey I share with my mentees.
In essence, mentoring is about igniting a spark of transformation in others, encouraging them to explore the depths of their potential while weaving in the threads of compassion, resilience, and empowerment gained from my own life's work and experiences. It is about walking alongside individuals on their path to healing and leadership, offering them the wisdom gathered from a vibrant tapestry of professional insights and personal passions.
I specialize in providing clinical expertise for female clients encompassing teens, young adults, and adults. My focus areas include trauma, where I support individuals in healing and integrating their experiences; substance use, assisting clients in navigating and overcoming addiction; and eating disorders along with disordered eating behaviors, where I offer guidance and strategies for developing a healthier relationship with food and body image. Through a compassionate and tailored approach, I aim to promote resilience, recovery, and well-being in each of these critical areas.
With nearly two decades of experience, I have dedicated myself to guiding and supporting individuals in their personal growth journeys. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of mentorship's impact and have honed my skills in providing constructive guidance, fostering development, and empowering mentees to achieve their goals. My extensive experience allows me to offer valuable insights and support tailored to everyone’s unique needs and aspirations.
